The project aims to introduce us to the strategies of passive design. The building that we chose is One City Skypark. It uses a green wall system and concrete vent blocks as a shading device to reduce heat gain inside the building. The building also utilizes natural ventilation such as cross and stack ventilation as well as natural daylighting. After conducting site visits and did some analysis, we concluded that the strategies being used have succeeded in lowering the heat inside the building. Thus, closer to the thermal comfort standard.

 

The case study has helped me to gain an understanding in designing with thermal comfort in mind. It also taught me about the importance and strategies to design in a sustainable way, which I incorporated in my Studio 3 final project.
