Nusantara: Indo-Malay Culture

This phase encourages us to work on the 'Big Idea' in the form of a narrative and exploring design strategies. This project aims to explore the design narrative that will inform and set the design parameters for the design.

Malaysia and Indonesia, two countries sharing the same root, kin in two nations, has a long history of the making that resulted in our overlapping cultures. Despite that, disputes often happen to fight over cultural ownership. This creates a global tension between the two nations and affects how each community treats each other. Hence, The Cultural Experience Center takes the concept of Nusantara, which was what the two countries used to be called, and aims to mend the relationship between the two by celebrating the overlapping cultures along with the nuances.
